Description
The Celestial Collection Star Bowls
This Limited Editions ‘Celestial’ Collection, is designed and created by Chris Danby; Blacksmith and founder of Coach House Forge.
Inspired by Astronomy and Physics, Chris’ design fuses his fascination with modern science and the industrial innovation of the Victorian era to produce these minimal pieces of homeware. Chris took the shape of the humble star, cut it out of sheet metal heating it multiple times to a very high heat. He then uses one of his antique Victorian Fly-presses to persuade the metal to take on a new form, knowing that the deep bowl is harder to produce, Chris expects that each of the bowls would be exquisitely different from the last.
There are 6 bowls in this collection each with a different personality
No. 1 of 6 star bowls created in this Celestial series; the first bowl has evenly-spaced 5-edge star shape with a tactile leathery matte finish.
No. 2 of 6 star bowls created in this Celestial series; the second bowl has Jaunty prominent tips with roughened internal texture and green burst-bubble hues to the outside.
No. 3 of 6 star bowls created in this Celestial series; the third bowl an auditorium feel, with a winged-back couple of star tips, gives a ‘popped collar’ feel! Has internal bubbles of sea-greens and multiple textures and crackling from the intense heat.
No. 4 of 6 star bowls created in this Celestial series; the forth bowl has one star point reaching out, larger from the rest, giving this bowl a directional quality. The internal texture is even and rough while the outside is mostly matte with a shiny prominence with a bluish tinge.
No. 5 of 6 star bowls created in this Celestial series; the fifth bowl is an abstract star bowl, the only bowl with 7-points. This one has three birthmarks where the most prominent points connected during the birth of this star. The internal surface and a mixture of smooth and rough textures with lighter tinges of sea-greens. While the outside surface appears similar it has the additional and exciting flame residue near the base showing a marbling effect.
No. 6 of 6 star bowls created in this Celestial series; the sixth bowl is a 5-pointed abstract star bowl with 3 birthmarks where the most prominent point connected during the birth of this star.
